Student Projects
Showcasing students’ work.
I have developed several learning activities over my teaching career aside from academic essays. This page is dedicated to highlight exemplary student work that has taken place in my courses.
The first assignment showcased below is a group podcast episode that I assigned in my Fall 2024 course on “Great Archaeological Sites” at UWO.
ANTHRO2101:
Podcasts
In this final course assignment, students in groups of four were asked to create a podcast episode modelled after the SAPIENS podcast in which professional, academic anthropologist produce anthropological content for a broad audience. Two students took on the hosting role, while the other two were the interviewees.
Each group chose their podcast topic between the following two options:
An archaeological site of your choice and a discussion about issues/efforts/initiatives surrounding cultural heritage promotion, tourism, and site preservation.
One or multiple archaeological sites of your choice and a discussion about challenges/debates surrounding pseudoarchaeology and some of the ways in which archaeologists continue to tackle false theories and misinformation.
Each group developed a podcast proposal first, followed by the production of the podcast transcript and audio files.
Here, I showcase a selection of podcast episodes that demonstrated thorough research, creativity and engagement, as well as an excellent structure and production.
